Leblanc Chairs BTF Conference

Paul Leblanc, 7th Wave Capital’s Founder and CEO was announced the Chair for the upcoming Business Transitions Conference (BTF) in Halifax on April 2-3, 2020. This marks the second year that the BTF conference has come to Atlantic Canada. This conference focuses on the principles of business transitioning and growth strategies.

It is a fact the over 20,000 business will sell or transition over the next 10 years as the baby boomers retire and pass over the reins of leadership. Many of these business owners are woefully unprepared and don’t understand how businesses are valued or how best to structure their business for an optimal exit. The Chronicle Herald recently published an excellent editorial from Don Mills on the state of SME (Small to Medium sized Enterprise) which represents a whopping 93% of private employment in Atlantic Canada. “I couldn’t help but think how many of these 20,000 business owners will leave a massive amount of value for themselves and their families on the table because they just don’t understand how acquisitions are done”, said Leblanc, “The BTF Conference focuses almost exclusively on giving these business owners the knowledge they need to perform an exit which not only extracts the best possible value to them, but also sets the business up for continued success in the future”.

The BTF Atlantic Conference is a must attend event for anyone who is considering a sale or purchase of a business in the next 5-10 years. “You don’t start the process of selling your business when it’s time for you to exit,” says Leblanc, “The time to engage in the process of selling starts at least 3 years out. This ensures the right management team is in place, your balance sheet is in great shape and you are very attractive to an external or internal buyer”.

This year’s conference keynote address is John Risley, one of Canada’s best entrepreneurs. Other speakers include Mickey MacDonald, Darren Nantes, Wade Dawe, Tom Hickey, Rob Normandeau, Don Mills, Dwayne Smithers, Kevin Fraser, Dave Doucette and many more. These are some of the best businesspeople Atlantic Canada has to offer.

“This is one of the most important events a business owner or prospective buyer will ever attend,” said Leblanc, “The advice you’ll get from our local entrepreneurs can make a colossal difference in the result of your exit or purchase and it’s why I agreed to Chair this conference. Our region will be better for it!”

The BTF Conference registration link is here and register early as it’s going to sell out fast.
